Fall 2026 Mid-term Election Thoughts

I haven't posted on this blog for 2 plus years. I wonder if it even works anymore. A midterm election is close at hand. I went out to start my Neighborhood Leader work last night, a warmish Sunday evening in mid October. I began with the households I know a bit, who are grateful and freindly about having a person come, unannounced, to their door. It seems to be a cultural no-no these days to knock on a perosn's door. Even so, I had several people thank me for my work. That kind of reinforcement goes a long way for me. The questions we encounter now about our politcal landscape are immense, daunting, unfathomable and intensely misunderstood between groups. So, one goes out with the info for voting, info to my fellow Democrats. I am not electioneering, I'm just bringing info about our endorsements, and the aspects of voting itself. Right now there is a suspicion about our election process. Even so, our County has a very dedicated, competent, proactive and engaged Elections Clerk - Catherine MacMullen. We are so lucky that individuals of such quality still step up to help lead us amidst the storm of misinformation that even goes so far as to threaten their lives. I am humbled by our good leaders. That is why I knock on doors.
